Description

The George Enescu National Museum is located in one of the most beautiful buildings in Bucharest, the Cantacuzino Palace, on Calea Victoriei at no. 141, which was built between 1901-1903 by the former mayor of the Capital at that time, Gheorghe Grigore Cantacuzino. The Cantacuzino Palace then belonged to his son, Mikhail Cantacuzino and his wife, Maria. In 1937 Maria remarried to George Enescu after her husband died prematurely in a car accident. The museum is also invested with historical, cultural, artistic and tourist value. We can reconstruct the history of an exceptional life and career, through the patrimony of the museum made available to the public. The manuscripts of George Enescu’s compositions, his violins and pianos, original furniture, music library, paintings, engravings, decorative art objects, letters, chronicles, photographs, documents related to the musician’s activity are on display.
