Description
Cismigiu Park is the oldest and most elegant park in Bucharest, that covers an area of 14 hectares and is located in the center of Bucharest. The development of the park began under the guidance of the Viennese architect F. Meyer and includes a beautiful rose garden on the north side, a French garden on the west side and three lakes, the largest of which has an island and a boathouse, from which boats can be rented for crossing the lake.
Cismigiu garden was placed on a swampy land, with many ponds, with underground springs that never dry. The Cismigiu garden is unique in terms of the conception and diversity of the dendrological material, here we find some specimens declared “protected trees”, such as: Platanus x acerifolia, Torreya nucifera, Torreya californica, Cedrus atlantica (Japanese red pine), Excelsa inverse (red spruce).
The current appearance of Cismigiu Park is the work of architect F. Rebhun. The central ground floor is designed as a huge uninterrupted carpet by the alleys. Along these alleys was planted a double row of lime trees that are cut into geometric shapes.
As special decoration elements are ceramic flower pots.
